"THANK OUR STARS" EXHIBITION OPENS TODAY

V.A.S.A. (St. Albert) is hosting the exhibition "Thank Our Stars" which is opening today from 10:00-4:00. I have two pieces for sale at this exhibition. The opening reception is December 1 from 6:00-9:00. Everyone is welcome as this reception also serves as a fundraiser for VASA.

Just got the news that my submission pieces did not make it beyond the second jurying step so unfortunately they will not be in the 2017 exhibition.

UPCOMING V.A.S.A. EXHIBITION (ST. ALBERT)

The V.A.S.A. exhibition "Thank Our Stars" is just around the corner. Two of my pieces will be in the show as well as many other works from over 80 artists. The show opens November 29 with the opening reception/fundraiser on December 1. Hope to see you there!

ASA Exhibition "Fire"

Just completed and sent off my submission for the ASA exhibition "Fire" to be held in Edmonton and Calgary. My submission focuses on the aftermath of the Fort McMurray fire and the spirit of renewal and recovery that Albertans are demonstrating after this devastating disaster. I hope to hear some news after December 5. (Keeping my fingers crossed!)

Submission for Exhibition in Fort Sask.

Just completed a submission for a potential exhibition in Fort Saskatchewan for 2017. It would be based on my still lifes (oil and pastel) and entitled "Around the House." Here  is hoping for the best!

WORKING ON A PIECE

Started to work on a piece for an upcoming exhibition sponsored by the ASA. I am planning a mixed media collage based on a smaller collage piece.

CHRISTMAS MARKETPLACE GREAT SUCCESS!

This weekend was a great success! I am glad so many people came out to the Ottewell Centre/Red Barn on Saturday and Sunday.

Glass Fusion Platter went within minutes

When I stopped by at the Ottewell Centre/Red Barn, the event was hopping. Warm apple cider and fresh baked cookies with numerous vendors. Many of my items went on this first day including all of my Evans sour cherry jam preserves. There is still another day (from 11-4) and tables will be restocked with new items. It is going to be a long night for me!

Just in final preparations for the upcoming marketplace at the Ottewell Centre/Red Barn. I had hoped that more of my glass fusion pieces would be done but unfortunately there were issues with the kiln and my pieces did not get fired. I will have some pieces available but not as many as I wanted. Anyways, I am back to work and baking some cookies for tomorrow. Come out and attend!!

I just dropped my pieces to be juried for a show in 2017 @ Alberta Branded, the retail store @Alberta Legislature. I had time to take a quick view of the store and there are some wonderful items available for purchase all made by local Alberta artisans. CHECK this gift shop out!!!

Prepping for the Christmas Marketplace

Spending time at home creating more items for the upcoming Christmas Marketplace @Red Barn/Ottewell Center this upcoming weekend. I will have fused glass work, pottery, and my mosaic keepsake boxes. Hope to see you there!!!

OPENING RECEPTION AT GUILDED SHOW, ST. ALBERT

Just got back from attending the opening reception for "Guilded: A River Runs Through", Art Gallery of St. Albert. Amazing work from all the guilds. I especially loved the large installation work put up by the paper guild. Check it out! This show runs until November 28.

EXTENSION CLASS OVER

Last night was the wrap up for my extension class. If anyone is interested in experimenting with materials, often beyond their comfort levels, I would recommend this class "Drawing with Mixed Media." Great class and a highly creative instructor. I have included an example of my final project on Kurt Schwitters.
